Ceud Mile Failte "A hundred thousand welcomes"
We are seeking talented and enthusiastic doctors who can make a real difference to the people of the Highlands. Through our Highland Quality Approach strategy we ensure that developing our services and staff is high up on our agenda in order to fulfil our mission to provide quality of care to every person every day.
NHS Highland looks after the health of one of the most sparsely populated areas in Europe, with 320,000 people spread over around 32,500 km2. Our exceptional natural environment also presents some significant challenges to the delivery of health and social services, served to a population of over 310,000 residents. A difficult terrain, populated islands and challenging transport links ensure no two days are ever the same.
There are services in a wide range of medical and surgical specialties and close integration of clinical teams.
We are also passionate about growing research and development within NHS Highland. We have a mature research infrastructure with three universities (Aberdeen, Stirling and Highlands & Islands) based on campus in the Centre for Health Science, which offers state of the art research and design laboratories, skills centres and multimodal lecture spaces. One of five Clinical Search Facilities is sited within the centre.
