The Golden Jubilee National Hospital is home to regional and national heart and lung services, a major centre for orthopaedics; and is the flagship hospital for reducing waiting times in key elective specialties including; Orthopaedic, Cardiac, Thoracic, Spinal, Plastic, Ophthalmic and General Surgeries. We also provide; Diagnostic, Endoscopy and Colonoscopy Services in addition to Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology. Also located on site are the Scottish National Advanced Heart Failure Service (including the heart transplant unit and mechanical device service) (SNAHFS), Scottish Pulmonary Vascular Unit (SPVU) and the Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Service (SACCS) and The West of Scotland Heart and Lung Centre.
We provide one of the primary PCI services in the UK and the regional electrophysiology service for the West of Scotland. With services provided to a catchment population of 2.2 million, the GJNH is one of the largest heart and lung centres in Europe. The national demand for Orthopaedic surgery, particularly joint replacements, continues to grow. In 2010/11 the Golden Jubilee National Hospital undertook 45% of all hip and knee joint replacements in the West of Scotland (20% nationwide). An enhanced recovery program has been developed over the last five years - the "Caledonian technique" leading to a significant reduction in hospital stay with 35% of patients mobilised on the day of surgery.
